Of the Form To Be Used In The Consecration Of The Wine"For this is the Chalice of My Blood, of the new and eternal testament, the mystery of faith, which shall be shed for you and for many unto the remission of sins." The Catechism of the Council of Trent stated: So, relevant Catholic authority ("whatsoever thou shalt bind ... and ... loose ...", Matt 16:19.) combined portion of the consecratory form from some of the Gospels, from St. Paul AND from Tradition. None should dispute the fact that, throughout the history of Christianity, those rites were valid which did not contain the form for the consecration of the wine, as set out by the Councils of Florence and Trent - but which DID contain the essential words: "This is my blood", or "This is the cup of my blood". To do so would be to call the Apostles liars, and their consecrations invalid. In 1969, the same relevant Catholic authority decreed that the form of consecration would place the words "Mysterium Fidei" The Mystery of Faith, outside the Consecration proper. If you have ever looked at the Novus Ordo in the Latin, they are the same as was used in the Mozarabic Rite up to 924: " It is certain that the Roman form of the Words of Institution was not used by the Spanish Church before the mission of Zannello (see above) in 924.
