"My Reason For Withdrawing Support From
The Society of St Pius X"

Negative

I had just recently come across your article "My reasons for wthdrawing..." and I would like to express my gladness for your homecoming. I can relate in a way because, as of this moment, I am trying to get some members of my family to break away from the SSPX here in Manila. While you have shown that they consistently changed their "masks" from time to time and make themselves their own popes (like the Protestants), my relatives are buying into all of their declarations.

This is to the point of being so suspicious of anything the official Church authorities say or do. While no one has ever been converted purely by apologetical arguments, that is to say it is the Holy Spirit who converts, how do I approach this kind of mind-set? What would be your advice from the point of view of someone who has been in there for years? I would greatly appreciate some "words of wisdom".

I very much enjoyed your articles on the web. Thank you so much for your information.

Fr. Jean Violette is now District Superior of the SSPX for Canada. I would like to show some friends who are in the SSPX in Canada some of his Letters to the Faithful. Would you be able to tell me how to get copies? I would gladly pay for any expense.

Rebecca

Recently my family and I left St. Pius X due to many disagreeable changes the Society now openly promotes. I have enjoyed reading your above letter but have some questions which I would like to present to you. Please respond to me in layman's terms so that I may share your answers with our friends who still attend Mass at the Society.

1. Are all the Society bishops excommunicated? Your letters states, "Those mentioned above who are still living and have not asked pardon from the Church for the ill which they have caused are still under the censure of excommunication". This is vague to me. What does "censure of excommunication" mean? Can you say very simply, with a yes or no, are the bishops excommunicated or not?

2. Very simply can you also answer, with a yes or no, is the SSPX in schism?

If you have any other letters or information regarding the SSPX please e-mail them to me.

I have been trying to find out more about the SSPV. My mother and members of her family have joined and I am frightened and appalled by their change in behavior. The secrecy. The anti-Semitic statements. I have attempted to find out more about (1) what is the official attitude of the church toward the SSPV (I am aware of the stand against the SSPX but nothing is available about the SSPV that I have been able to find); and (2) what is the "official" teaching of the SSPV about Jews and their relationship to changes in the church? Any citations for documentation would be much appreciated. I have tried contacting the SSPV but all I get are references to their position on the Tridentine mass. No one seems to know much about the SSPV, at least no one who is talking. Any helpful tips of where I can find specifics would help. Thanks.

FJL Note:
The SSPV (Society of St Pius V) are an off-shoot from the SSPX. They espouse the sede-vacantist stance.
