On this day, Feb.2, 2001, the following entry was made in my Guestbook at Sean Ó Lachtnáin's Home Page: Response to Mr Geoffrey Mayne
aka "Luc Eifer" aka "Fr. Lucifer Legionnaire"

Just going ovewr the entries and your replies in the guest book: Can you give me an explanation as to your comment: "According to his web-site, he is now a Luciferian."
If there is anything in my site that may lead you to this conclusion please indicate this to me. I have written a justification for my taking of the religious name Lucifer...link on home page.
How do you summarily dismiss my orders? That is a very brave thing to do.
May you learn humility!
In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

******************************************
- Other than the above entry there are NO prior references in my Guestbook to the above matter. The the above person WAS initially classified as a Luciferian in the list of "catholics" file. click here He claims that, while Lucifer and Satan are the same beings, the name "Lucifer" remained in Heaven. Apparently, he desires to rehabilitate the name.
- I refer the complainant and reader to Thuc Consecrations which gives a brief outline of the Thuc consecrations Jan. 11, 1976 to Oct. 17, 1981. Terry Boyle also lays out the subsequent Thuc line pedigree. His concluding remarks in the brief summary include the following:
"Msgr. Ngo's lineage includes the broadest conceivable spectrum of theologies likely ever to be held by men all claiming to possess valid 'Catholic' priestly and episcopal orders derived from a single prelate alive in their lifetimes. The spectrum ranges from the head of a French Satanist sect all the way to the strictest of Traditional Roman Catholics.", and
"Needless to say, there are critics of both the liceity and validity of the various 'Thuc lineage' episcopal consecrations."
In respect of the above "Fr. Lucifer Legionnaire", Terry's record shows that Geoffrey Mayne, an Australian, was ordained a priest, on Feb. 13, 1976, for the Carmelite Order of the Holy Face (that is a spurious "order" created by Clemente Dominguez Gómez - the so-called "visionary" at Palmar de Troya who now claims to be Pope Gregory XVII of the Holy Palmarian Church.)
On the same day of his "ordination", the same record shows that Geoffrey Mayne was "consecrated" a bishop of "The Holy Palmarian Church". Gomez, "The Holy Palmarian Church", and the "Carmelite Order of the Holy Face" are, these days, not in favour with Mr Mayne/Eifer.
In response to the "ordination" as a priest of the Irish singer Sinéad O'Connor by "Bishop" Michael Cox, the following article by Fr. Vincent Twomey, SVD appeared in the Tuesday, April 27, 1999 issue of the "Irish Times":
(The extension of the thrust of Fr. Twomey's article is: "Is Mr Geoffrey Mayne, who changed his name to 'Luc Eifer' and represents himself as 'Fr. Lucifer Legionnaire', a validly ordained priest or bishop? In short the answer must be no. F.J.L. Feb. 2, 2001.)Theological difficulties raised by O'Connor
The 'ordination' of Sinéad O'Connor as a priest by a 'Tridentine bishop' is not recognised by the Catholic Church, and she remains a lay person, writes Vincent Twomey.
No wonder people are confused. The sensational news that Sinéad O'Connor claims to have been ordained a priest by a 'Tridentine bishop' raises all kinds of tricky theological and canonical issues which are difficult enough even for the expert in those areas to disentangle, not to mention the man or woman in the street.
The most health reaction might be to treat the whole thing as a big joke. And yet the issues are undoubtedly serious, comparable to someone setting himself or herself up as a judge of the Circuit or High Court. This would be seen as outrageous. The sad thing is that, due to the general collapse of our religious culture, almost anything in the realm of faith can be claimed by anybody - and be taken seriously by the public media. As a result, the issues themselves are inevitably, albeit unintentionally, trivialised.
Michael Cox bases his claim to be a bishop on a succession that goes back to an excommunicated Vietnamese archbishop. That bishop ordained several priests and bishops in January 1976 in the village of Palmar de Troya, in Spain, acting, it would seem, on instructions from somebody claiming to be a visionary.
The Vatican reacted almost immediately (September 17th, 1976), drawing attention to the penalties - including excommunication - incurred by the archbishop and those he had ordained. Later, the archbishop requested and obtained absolution from the excommunication.
The repentance was short-lived. From 1981 onwards the archbishop attempted to ordain other priests and bishops, on the basis that 'the See of the Catholic Church of Rome was vacant'.
Since this was evidently not the case, evident, that is, to all but the devotees of Palmar de Troya, the Congregation for the Faith, 'by a special mandate of His Holiness Pope John Paul II' reaffirmed in 1983 the original penalties incurred, including automatic excommunication of the archbishop and those he tried to ordain. They were forbidden to attempt to act as priests or bishops.
Most importantly, the Congregation for the faith affirmed that 'the Church does not nor shall it recognise their ordination'.
Moreover, the document continues, the Church 'considers them in the state which each had previously', in other words as laymen or priests. Thus, in the eyes of the Church, we are dealing with a Mr Michael Cox, a Father Pat Buckley, whom he attempted to ordain a bishop, and, most recently, a Ms Sinéad O'Connor.
The document is one that is phrased in canonical terms, two of which have fascinated the public since last Saturday: 'illicit' and 'valid'. The former means that a public and solemn act of the Church, such as the administration of a sacrament, was carried out in contravention of the legal conditions set down by the Church.
Validity in this context belongs to the sphere of sacramental theology and affirms that a sacrament, though not executed in accordance with the legal conditions set down by the Church is nonetheless effective as a sacrament, that is, God's intended effect takes place.
An example would be a priest who has been suspended from exercise of the priesthood, yet gives absolution or celebrates Mass. His act would be gravely evil, in fact sacrilegious, but the unsuspecting faithful would still have received absolution or attended a valid Mass.
The Vatican document quoted above does mention the question of the validity of those ordained by the excommunicated Vietnamese archbishop in an aside - effectively leaving it aside for further study. The Church is reluctant to deny the validity of any sacrament, irrespective of the circumstances, and generally takes its time before making an authorative decision.
Central to the question of validity is the intention to do as Christ intended. It is unlikely that any sensible person could be persuaded that the antics of the Palmar de Troya cult could be seen to fulfil this condition.
Is Michael Cox a validly ordained bishop? In short the answer must be no.
Vincent Twomey SVD is a lecturer in moral theology and editor of the Irish Theological Quarterly, Pontifical University, Maynooth.

Mr Mayne/Eifer's website has now been changed to http://www.societyofsaintjohn.org/index.htm
No problem! I DID take the precaution of keeping the HTML form of his original email AND his web pages. One never knows when these sorts of things may be needed!
The following IS taken from Geoffrey Francis Mayne/"Luc EIFER"/"Fr Lucifer Legionnaire's" website:
FLHS My Justification For The Name Lucifer
The name Lucifer stayed in Heaven: Satan went to Hell...
Those who refer to the Evil One as Lucifer are not theologically correct.
I admonish all to refer to him as Satan or the Evil One...
I do the will of my Father Whom I love and for love of Him I will redeem this name.
So please, refer to him as Satan: I am Lucifer!
Father Lucifer Legionnaire
FLHS Order Of Fr Lucifer Leg
The Society Of Saint John has Episcopal powers....end of story...and they will be used to propagate the True Faith in these dark times
FLHS Spirituality Of The Legionnaire
The Legionnaire is seldom an angel: They may even have a criminal past. Some angels will be called to edify the rest of us; the prodigal sons and daughters.
The Priesthood awaits those who are called.
Once they have joined, under an assumed name if they wish, the Legionnaire enjoys an unequalled protection respecting the privacy of their past for as long as they wish. There is only one criteria for enlistment: To deliver oneself totally to The Holy Spirit that He may possess us!
FLHS The Legionnaire At Prayer
Everything he does centres around The Mass. The majority of Legionnaires will have the call to the Priesthood.
FLHS The Legionnaire's Code Of Honour
In this Apocalyptic Battle between Heaven and Hell, no prisoners will be taken.
FLHS The Blessing
The Blessing I refer to is a Sacramental AND FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL THOSE ILL INFORMED SLANDEROUS (I have even had people say publicly that I worship Satan!) TONGUES I SAY WITH EMPHASIS: THE BLESSING IS NOT A SACRAMENT BUT A SACRAMENTAL. (Emphasis as in the original.)
(F.J.L. note: At no time have I classified Mr Mayne as a "satanist." By his own lights (pun not intended) he ought not object to be classified a "Luciferian" - for he holds to the theory that Lucifer is in Heaven!!!
Papacy Sedevacantism
They (sedevacantists - F.J.L.) are part of the group that will have crucified our beloved Holy Father, John Paul II, who is so predilect of Our Lady and so holy a man!
("beloved" and "predilect of Our Lady" notwithstanding - Mr Mayne deliberately chooses to remain outside the Church of Christ whose Vicar is Pope John Paul II.
Society Introduction
(Having been ordained and consecrated by Thuc for the "Holy Palmarian Church", Mr Mayne/Eifer now states in his "Society Introduction" file:)
I strongly warn against having anything to do with this group. The tree did not bear good fruit! See Contents/ Prophecy/ False Prophets/ El Palmar de Troya in this web.
I am a Thucite...
Catholics have not the grace to understand that the True Faith is far more important that the bricks and mortar of their local church.
In many cases, far too many, their local church has just become another Protestant group under the 'modern' intellects of their Bishop and Priests.
(Nevertheless, F.J.L. note.) At the moment much funding is needed simply to buy some place where people can come to.
I myself am living in a caravan park in a small cabin.
A few hectares are needed where people can come to live or visit so as to embrace the True Faith.
- Lucifer
The 1885 "Catholic Dictionary" (p.261) Edited by Addis and Arnold had the following to say:
"...The devil was the chief of these fallen spirits, and it is held by the greater number of authors that he was originally the chief of all the angels. The terrible description of the fall of the king of Tyre in Ezechiel xxviii, has been interpreted of the devil's fall, so much so, indeed, that the name Lucifer commonly given to the devil is derived from this passage."
The 1957 "Catholic Dictionary" (p.299) Edited by Donald Attwater says of Lucifer:
"...usually understood as the proper name of Satan, the chief fallen angel, because of Christ's saying, 'I saw Satan like lightening falling from Heaven' (Luke x. 18), combined with Isaias xiv taken as description of the pride and fall of Satan."
"...And Jesus asked, 'What is your name? He replied, 'My name is Legion; for we are many.' "(Mark 5:9. See also Luke 8:30).
If Mr Mayne/Eifer wants to literally "play with fire", then he ought not complain of burnt fingers!
However! Pursuant to Mr Mayne/Eifer's objection to being classified as a "Luciferian", and due to his 1) public statement acknowledging Pope John Paul II to be the Holy Father and reigning Pope, and 2) stated preparedness to exercise "Episcopal powers...to propagate the True faith in these dark times" (obviously without the mandate of the Pope), and to act as a priest while knowing that the Vatican considers him to be simply a layman; - I am prepared to initially re-classify his position to be not in communion with Pope John Paul II. Thus, will Mr Mayne/Eifer's "Society of Saint John" be transferred to the section NOT IN OBEDIENCE TO POPE JOHN PAUL II in the file
SOME CHURCHES NOT IN UNION WITH ROME WHICH USE "CATHOLIC" OR "ROMAN CATHOLIC" IN THEIR NAME, and SOME SEDEVACANTISTS and CATHOLICS NOT IN OBEDIENCE TO POPE JOHN PAUL II
It will be a happier day, however, to learn that Mr Mayne/Eifer has submitted to the Roman Catholic Bishop in his Diocese of Broom, Australia.
May Almighty God have mercy on us all.
